Wet-Hulled Honey
Indonesia is known for its unique processing method called ‘Wet hulled’ coffee. Most likely this practice originated from Lintong in the late ‘70s, beginning ‘80s. Producers see it as a way of getting quick cash selling their coffee to the local mill as wet parchment. Another reason is the difficult drying conditions on higher altitudes where it is humid all year round and where producers experience inconsistent rainfall.
Gunung Tujuh
At the foot of the highest East-Asian mountain Kerinci, lies the subdistrict of Gunung Tujuh. Part of the regency Kerinci, and the larger province of Jambi, this area is known for growing high-quality coffees. After a flight to Padang airport, you can expect a 7-hour drive through the rolling hills before arriving at the foot of Kerinci mountain. Living and working on this plateau are the 250 members of the cooperative Koerintji Barokah Bersama, led by manager Tryiono.
